Iseya Hamadayama
深川伊勢屋 浜田山店
Located in Suginami Ward's Hamadayama, Iseya Hamadayama offers generously sized skewered dango often served with warm glaze, alongside handmade onigiri and inari sushi suited for daily lunches and snacks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
The first things that draw the eye at the shopfront are the substantial skewered dango. For the signature grilled dango (mitarashi dango), staff frequently ladle on a generous coat of warm glaze right when an order is placed, serving up chewy mochi paired with fresh warmth. Picking one skewer coated in sweet-savoury mitarashi glaze and another generously topped with earthy red bean paste makes for an enjoyable side-by-side tasting.
Beyond its sweets, the shop is equally prized for its savoury rice dishes. The glass case is filled with classic onigiri, mountain vegetable rice balls, well-seasoned inari sushi in juicy simmered tofu pouches, thick futomaki rolls, kanpyo gourd rolls, and festive sekihan red bean rice. These offerings slide naturally into an everyday lunch or a snack break while out walking. It is just as simple to pick up a filling portion of chicken rice (tori gohan) for midday and have a single sweet dango wrapped up for later.
The counter also carries approachable staples such as ohagi, lightly salted shio daifuku, smooth fu manju wrapped in wheat gluten, chewy suama, and dense sweet potato yokan. Boxed gift confections are available as well, making this a practical stop along the Hamadayama shopping street whether you are gathering treats for home or bringing a gift to someone else. The shop closes on Tuesdays and opens from 9:00, making it handy for early morning errands.
